About the Project
The Condominiums at Sugarloaf consists of 23 acres offering a 35 duplex/70 unit single story senior (55+) housing living experience.
The project is being constructed in the small Town of South Deerfield, Massachusetts (population of approximately 5125) at the base of beautiful Mount Sugarloaf Reservation. The Reservation is approximately 533 acres in size with over 20 miles of trails, an observation building, an access road and beautiful views of the Connecticut River and the surrounding river valley farms and small towns. The project will have access directly to the Mt. Sugarloaf trail system. Additionally, many of the condominium units will have views of Mt. Sugarloaf while others view the Whately Hills in the distance.
The project is within walking distance to a small but vibrant downtown offering everything from Yoga classes, karate classes, and Fly Fishing gear to a Liquor store, bars, restaurants, a pharmacy, many doctor’s offices, easy access to local hospitals and shopping at the world renowned Yankee Candle Company home store.

For over twenty years, the Town of South Deerfield has recognized a need for Senior housing within Town. Many of our elders from South Deerfield and surrounding Towns, some who have lived here their entire lives, have had to move from the area because they couldn’t find low maintenance, community driven, single level housing centrally located. The complexities of finding a parcel of land substantial enough to build a project such as this while still being close enough to downtown has long been two of the main obstacles to the creation of this much needed housing type. Luckily, a parcel meeting the needs of our elders became available and a local developer solicited the Town boards, departments and many long-time residents of the area to ask if they felt this parcel would be suitable for senior housing. And the answer was a resounding YES.
Consequently, a substantial portion of the project has been constructed and many more units have already been reserved, mostly by local residents and some from as far as Boston and New Jersey. But don’t let the brisk pace concern you. There are still several units available for sale.
